In
1990 the Parish Community of Notre Dame suffered the sudden loss of Fr. Charlie
Christell. Fr.
Charlie was a charming, loving and caring parochial vicar at the parish. Shortly after his death a spruce tree was
planted by the Parish Center entrance, in memory of him.
The
tree became known as “The Fr. Charlie Tree”.
The
winter of 2009 as we all know was a tough one; we had numerous storms with high
winds. Sadly “The Fr. Charlie Tree
“suffered damage and had to be removed.
It was decided that we had to replace the tree. After discussion with the garden center it
was agreed
that a holly tree would fare better in that
location so
“The Fr. Charlie Tree” is now taking root there!
